Component Breakdown & Properties:
- CER (Ceramic / Alumina):

- Typically high-purity aluminium oxide (99.5% or 99%).
- Properties: Extremely hard, high wear resistance, and great chemical resistance against most acids, water, and mild chemicals. Used as a seal face paired with carbon.Â

- CAR (Carbon / Resin- or Antimony-impregnated Carbon):

- Properties: Self-lubricating, low friction, and high thermal shock resistance. Acts as the mating face, wearing-in smoothly against the ceramic ring to create a tight, low-friction seal face.

- EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer):
- Properties: Elastomer with excellent resistance to hot water, steam, ozone, weathering, aging, and many polar solvents (alcohols, ketones, dilute acids, and alkalis).
- Limitations: Poor resistance to petroleum oils, mineral oils, and hydrocarbon solvents.
- Temperature Range: Typically -30°C to +150°C (depending on the specific compound grade).
